Child Support Administrator
Job Duties:
- Responsible for the operation and ongoing administration of the Child Support Division.
- Directly supervises Child Support Supervisor 1 and staff within the Child Support Division.
- Determines need for new staff.
- Interviews applicants and makes recommendations for the hiring of new employees.
- Disciplines subordinates and initiates actions for the termination of employees, when necessary.
- Reviews, approves or denies employee requests for leave.
- Completes performance evaluations of subordinates’ work.
- Meets with subordinates regarding any grievances.
- Assigns and reviews work of subordinates.
- Provides direction and technical assistance to subordinates concerning program regulations, policies and procedures.
- Conducts staff meetings.
- Trains subordinates on program regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Performs child support case related financial activities (i.e. case audits, financial corrections, and financial adjustments).
- Prepares for and conducts administrative hearings (i.e. mistake of fact, modification, and state hearings).
- Meets procedural deadlines. Processes cases, changes, case notes, and other paperwork as required.
- Prepares and generates reports.
- Acts as a liaison, performs public relations functions.
- Gives speeches and /or presentations.
- Administers, monitors, and/or negotiates contracts.
- Attends related training, conferences, and meetings as assigned. Stays current on program regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Serves on internal/external committees as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- One year of experience as a Child Support Supervisor 1.
-OR-
- Completion of two years of technical training or undergraduate major core coursework in criminology, social work psychology or related field. Also requires three years investigative experience in a social service agency or similar environment and one year experience in a supervisory position.

- One course of six months experience in interviewing techniques, one course or six months experience in business math, one course or six months experience in criminal investigations, one course or six months experience in court proceedings, one course or six months experience in writing techniques, one course or six months experience in typing, keyboarding, or work processing. Also requires three years investigative experience in a social service agency or similar environment and one year experience in a supervisory position.

- Educations, training, and/or experience in an amount equal to the Minimum Qualifications stated above.
- Must have the ability to professionally deal with difficult clients in adverse situations.
- Must be detail oriented, have strong organizational skills and excellent typing and computer skills.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills including telephone etiquette and interviewing techniques sufficient to obtain additional information from customers.
- Must be able to multi-task.
- Must work cooperatively with other staff and community service providers.
- Must be available for occasional overnight travel.
- Must be able to bend, stretch, reach, and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
Salary has a starting base of $19.84 per hour and up to $33.28 based on experience and education. Additional supplements may be available.
